How to Seed Aadhaar with Your Bank Account for DBT
If your status check shows inactive — or no bank at all — here is how to seed your Aadhaar with your bank account so DBT payments actually arrive.
Step 1: Visit your bank branch
Go to the branch where you hold the account you want DBT payments in. Carry your Aadhaar card, bank passbook, and your registered mobile number.
Step 2: Submit the seeding consent form
Fill and sign the bank's Aadhaar seeding consent form (Annexure I). Staff verify your details and accept the form, giving you an acknowledgement.
Step 3: Wait for the NPCI mapper update
The branch links your Aadhaar to the account and updates the NPCI mapper — this usually takes a few working days. You will get a confirmation SMS.
Step 4: Verify
Re-check on the UIDAI bank mapper (see our status check guide). Confirm the status now reads active against the right bank.
Troubleshooting
- OTP never arrives: your mobile is not registered with Aadhaar — update it at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra first.
- Payments go to the wrong account: DBT always uses the last-seeded account; seed the account you actually want.
- Status stays inactive: ask the branch to confirm the NPCI mapper update was pushed; dormant or frozen accounts cannot receive DBT.
- Scholarship/pension missing: seeding is necessary but not sufficient — also confirm your details match the scheme's beneficiary records.
